Please share a memory of Kendall to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Greenville – Kendall Earle Chandler Sr., 69, passed away April 22, 2024, at home after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 7, 1954, on Clark’s Island in St. George, Maine, the son of Earle R. and Violet A. (Yattaw) Chandler. Kendall attended K-1 at South Thomaston Owls Head Central, Rockland High School, and received his G.E.D. with honors after proudly serving 10 years in the United States Coast Guard. He was honorably discharged from the USCG after working as a machinery technician. He took this knowledge and pursued a career as a heavy equipment operator while living in Connecticut. Kendall returned to his native state of Maine and in 1993 met Chantal and moved to Greenville. He delivered the Bangor Daily News for a few years prior to opening his own business, “Kendall’s Garage.” At his garage he could do almost everything and did wonderful body work. He built a 1936 hot rod starting from scratch. This project took him many years but he was very proud of it. Kendall enjoyed gardening, racing, riding his motorcycle, but what he enjoyed most was driving that special hot rod. His favorite song was “Born to be Wild.” He and Chantal could always be found together working as a couple. Kendall is survived by his loving partner of over 30 years, Chantal R. Maheux; two sons, Christopher and Joshua Chandler; sisters, Peggy Jean Schultz and Elizabeth Riley; Chantal’s children, Michael Lebel and his wife, Erika, Cindy Tipping and her husband, John, and Kevin Lebel and his wife, Melanie; Chantal’s mother, Suzanne Maheux; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Kendall Chandler Jr; many brothers and sisters; and Chantal’s father. He will be missed by “Daddy’s Little Girl”, his four legged friend, Pennie. Chantal wishes to thank Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care in Kendall’s final days, and to many friends who were there to help during his illness. Visitations will be held 6-8PM Sunday, April 28, at the Greenville Chapel of the Lary Funeral Home located in the Masonic Hall at 281 Pritham Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10AM Monday, April 29, followed by a Celebration of Life and luncheon at Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville. Burial with military honors will be 2PM Friday, May 17, at the Greenville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
